Spanish S Profile

BRAVA has become very popular in Florida over the years. We are proud to be one of the first contractors to install these systems. We love using this product. If you are considering on purchasing a BRAVA roofing system over traditional concrete or clay tile, you wont be disappointed. Brava Spanish S tiles are mechanically attached and share about the same installation methods as concrete tile. Some differences include.

  • This system cannot be installed using adhesive foam. Each tile requires two 2" #10 mechanical screws, coated or stainless steel.
  • Brava tiles act as the primary water barrier. Since composite tiles are not porous, this system sheds all of the water and maintains the underlayment completely dry. In concrete tile applications, the underlayment acts as a primary water barrier. Concrete tiles shed some of the water, but the underlayment does all the work of keeping your home dry.
  • Brava hips and ridges do not use mortar; they are all watertight and sealed using a Zephyr roll that is installed under the tile caps.
  • All valleys that terminate onto another roof plane are adequately sealed with Waka Flex flashing instead of mortar.
  • The underlayment does not use a 30LB felt anchor base sheet with tin tags. It is installed "direct to deck" as a single-layer application or can be installed as a double-layer. We always recommend a double-layer installation method to sandwich the drip edge, valleys, and wall flashings in between.

Spanish S Tile - Aged Mission

Are you ready to "break" up with concrete tile?

Although concrete tiles are guaranteed to last up to 40 years, they typically only reach half of their lifespan due to broken tiles and the need for roof repairs or a full replacement. Concrete tiles require regular maintenance, such as pressure washing by service companies, which often results in broken tiles and exposes the underlayment to the elements. This is inevitable. So, consider the cost of a concrete tile roof compared to BRAVA tiles, which require zero maintenance.  Over a 20-year lifespan on a medium-sized home, you would be paying an average of $650 more per year for a concrete tile roof, not including maintenance. The minimum cost of a roof repair is around $1,500.00.

Cedar Shake Profile

Cedar shake is our favorite profile for installation due to its remarkably realistic appearance resembling wood shakes. These shakes are available in three different sizes and are installed in a random pattern or with staggered rows. Brava cedar shakes are a mechanically fastened system, secured with 2 #10 screws. Unlike wood shakes, composite shakes do not require a sweat sheet between each course.

Composite shakes are becoming the preferred choice for roof replacement as wood shakes are being prohibited in certain areas due to their highly flammable properties. Wood shakes also require significant maintenance, which adds to the cost over the years.
